I have just acquired a book presented by Captain Elliot to an Adam (unreadable) dated 14August1841. It contains a plate from the Macao Book Society - which has a list of 13 members names hand written on the plate which serves as a lending record - lent / returned. The names are hard to read - Elliot is one - others appear to include Vachelle, Layton, Stewart, Allforth
I would be interested in hearing any views on the book society and timing of the gift given this was about the period Elliot was dismissed.

That's an interesting piece of history. I had a quick look to see if any of those names are in the list of burials in Hong Kong (http://gwulo.com/node/8738), but no matches.
