My high school French teacher here in New Zealand was at Stanley as a boy. His first name "could" be Rod, and he could be in the South Island of New Zealand. Sorry, I didn't ask him anything about his experiences, and I haven't thought about high school since 1979. Alun
I found this profile on a dating site (so I'm not going to contact him through it ;-) ) Name Rod Metcalfe Date of birth 11/04/1942 Location Christchurch (Cheviot) New Zealand Profession Teacher Hobbies reading, drawing, walking, travel, history
Rodney Michael Metcalf was born in Stanley Camp 11th April 1942. He had a brother Christopher born in 1940. His parents were Rodney Oswald and Kathleen Metcalf and they were Missionaries working in China. I guess they were caught in HK when war boke out and interned at Stanley. Later in Dec 1942 the family was moved to Shanghai.
