Although Excell lived in the same room as several Prison Officers, his name doesn't appear on the lists for the Prison Officers or Stanley Platoon.

I have a vague memory that Mr Excell was slightly crippled, and worked in Food Control during the battle for Hong Kong - but I could well have mixed him up with someone else.
