Rose Hobbs was born on 19 September 1911 in Bethnal Green, London. She died in 1993.
She was appointed Nursing Sister, on probation in the Medical Department commencing from 11 August 1940.
After the Japanese surrender, Rose Hobbs and George Thomas Padgett, both former internees at Stanley Camp announced their forthcoming marriage in local and Australian newspapers in September and October 1945 respectively. Plans were made to have their wedding at St. John's Cathedral in Hong Kong but it appears due to time constraints and issuances of repatriation notices, they elected to get married in Australia instead.
Rose and George Padgett returned and remained in Hong Kong until George retired from Hong Kong Electric in 1958 after 37 years of service.
