My name is Aleisha and I am Ivy Batley (Cutler)'s grand-daughter. I have been deep-diving into this page today and it has been so interesting to learn more about her time at Stanley Internment camp and her family.
I don't remember Nanna talking much about her time there except when any food was left on a plate - then we would get an earful about how every bite was so important when she was there and all they had was rice!
She met her husband, Ronald Cutler, who was a british officer in the camp and always told the story that he had seen her for the first time and said 'i'm going to marry that girl' like something out of a romantic comedy. They migrated to Australia in 1948 and had 3 children, Heather, Fleur and their son, who they named Stanley (after the camp where they met) he is my father. she has several Grandchildren and great grandchildren spread across Australia. She passed away in 2011
When they first moved to Australia they also lived on Stanley Street, would you believe!
I will update her information when I get exact dates and info from my parents but here are some photos of Ivy, and an article about her and the 2 girls arriving in Australia for the first time (Ron had gone ahead and had never met his second daughter until they arrived!)
