Frederick Percival LENFESTEY [1886-1943]

Fred Lenfestey was one of the people who either attended the funeral of my grandfather, Charles Warren on 9 June 1923 or sent a wreath. I think he was a part of the Roman Catholic community in Hong Kong. The obituary in the Hong Kong Telegraph spells his name as "Lenfesty" without the third "e", but this seems to be a misspelling. He was a Harbour Official according to Carl Smith.

That certainly looks as if Lenfestey is spelt with three "e" and that both Carl Smith and the Hong Kong Telegraph spelt the name wrongly. I'm also going to delete the information that I took from Carl Smith that Fred Lenfesty married into the Coleman family. His wife's maiden name was clearly "Robin". The Margery and Robin Coleman in Stanley must have been relatives of Francis Coleman, her future husband and become her step-niece and nephew, one assumes.

His mother's maiden name was Robin. After her first husband died she remarried to Coleman so some of the Colemans were his half brothers.  The administrators of his will were Colemans possibly half brothers.

Her first husband died 1887 when Frederick Percival Fenestey was an infant. That is probably why he was living age 4 with his grandmother. Amelia Ann Coleman previously Fenestey nee Robin died aged 76 in 1940 in Hasting East Sussex.

Amelia Ann Coleman of 36 Chapel Park Road St Leonard's on Sea wife of Francis Arthur Coleman died on 18 August 1940 at St Helen's Crescent Hastings. Probate to Francis Arthur Coleman Chief Lighthouse Keeper.

In 1912 Amelia Ann and Francis Arthur Coleman both aged 48 travelled from London to Hong Kong with their son Robin Arthur Coleman aged 8. He was born 14 October 1903 in  Saint Pierre Port Guernsey and died 25 August 1932 in Hong Kong and is buried in Happy Valley. He died from malaria.

I fear I misread your previous post and also supposed that Coleman had been the maiden name of Lenfestey's wife. Apologies. Perhaps he didn't marry. I shall leave the Colemans on one side. Carl Smith adds that Lenfestey was for some time in charge of the entry and clearance section of the Harbour Office.
