Barbara Anslow:

Alison Black was in Stanley with her mother.     They were VADs  in the Military Hospital  most of whom were not sent into Stanley until August 1942 - after the Stanley list I have was compiled.   Incidentally, in Greg Leck's list in his book, Alison is listed as daughter-in-law  to Mrs Black rather than daughter, but I think that must be a mistake.  (Greg Leck gives 21.1.42 as date on which Alison & Mrs Black entered Stanley: seeing this, I wondered if they had come to Stanley then, ahead of all the other VADs, because of the death of Cap. Black in St Stephens, but that seems unlikely as their names aren't on the very early list I have - my VAD sister Mabel's name isn't on that list either, she arrived in Stanley in June 1942.
