The 1970s felt as those in the H.K. Highways Dept had found “flyovers” in their toy-box, as they suddenly appeared everywhere in the territory. Some were so elevated you felt when driving that a ‘pilot’s licence would be more appropriate than just a plain driving licence.
Pity the residents and businesses that found their previously unobstructed window views were suddenly obscured by solid concrete beams and accompanying traffic fumes, noise and dust.
One flyover remains memorable, Tsing Fung Street, Causeway Bay, where the flyover threaded from Kings Road between building so closely I believe they lost their balconies.
No doubt there were/are others, and people have their favourites.
