She was awarded the prestigious pan-Asian honour, the Ramon Magsaysay Award,  for ‘Outstanding Contribution in Government Service’  in 1976, one of the very few non-Asians to have been honoured in this way; in 1977, she received a CBE in Britain for her work against corruption; she was voted the most popular politician in Hong Kong in 1994.

In 1997, she was presented with Hong Kong’s highest honour, the Grand Bauhinia Medal from Mr. Tung Chee-hwa, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, serving from July 1, 1997, to March 12, 2005.
