Kai Tak-Concorde's first visit-publicity reception on the tarmac at the RAF's area

On a sales tour to the Far East during November 1976, Concorde F-BTSC was one of the manufacturer’s prototypes.

Arriving at Manila, it was commandeered by the Philippine president’s wife, the imperious Imelda Marcos, to fly her and entourage of a brief round trip to Hong Kong. The aircraft arrived virtually unnoticed a day earlier than expected.

It returned to Manila the same day. Returning the following day, it was greeted by the Governor, Sir Murray MacLehose and the planned publicity bonanza including an evening reception on the tarmac at the Royal Air Force area at Kai Tak

It was not until 1985 that any Concordes returned to Hong Kong on BA & Air France charter flights. These continued until all Concordes were finally withdrawn from service after the disastrous Paris crash in 2002 which ultimately led to the end of all Concorde services.

The aircraft in this crash was F-BTSC the visitor to Hong Kong in 1976.
