de Havilland Venom FB.4 WR539 was flown by 28 Squadron in Hong Kong. After being retired and used for rescue training by the Kai Tak airport fire station. It was refurbished by squadron personnel in 1973 and mounted as a gate guardian at RAF Kai Tak.
Due to open air weathering, it was sent back to the UK but deteriorated as merchant ship deck cargo to a point where it was refused by RAF Museum Cosford. The fuselage capsule and remaining components were transferred to the de Havilland Aircraft Museum. It is now being painstakingly restored and repainted in the exact colours of 28 Squadron.
