Well done finding the original photo of "downed aircraft", IDJ! WRF has another near identical one in his album without the chaps on the beach. If the date of the photo is 1927, that is slightly before Fell's assignment in Hong Kong. I have now changed the tag attached to our photo to Wei Hai Wei.
These images and the many other ‘military’ images that surface on Gwulo and eBay appear to be ‘official’ photographs made widely available to serving personnel for their personal ‘albums’. Hence, their present repetition in publications and websites in various forms.
The images I have shown were made available via the Fleet Air Arm Museum in the UK. And also published in specialist books by the AIR BRITAIN organisation covering every aircraft and their fates serving in the Fleet Air Arm, including those with the China Station Fleets.
