Japanese Pillbox

Recognized there is a loop hole on the side of the entrance which does not make sense as it is exposed.  On the other hand, the passage way is very narrow.  Likely could not accomodate heavy machine guns.

Anyone remembers if this is the case before the structure was relocated?
