Hong Kong Panorama (1959)

It was a postcard that said "Hong Kong 1940," but after checking the buildings in the photo, I think it's a panoramic view of Hong Kong from 1959.

1959 is a good estimate. The Star Ferry Multi-storey Car Park [1957- ] is there, also the City Hall multi-storey carpark [1959- ]. No sign of City Hall (2nd & current generation) [1962- ]. Construction of the City Hall started in 1960, so 1959 is ok.

True, the piling work for City Hall (2nd gen) started in mid-1959, and was still going on in early 1960.

So in the hope of solving the puzzle set by Klaus and marlowe above: Union Building phase 1 was still CIP and lower than Alexandra House; and Ambassador Hotel was still low.

With the shadows, then the view looked like that between June and October in 1959, tend to be the first half in this range.

The camera was in the vicinity of No. 17 Magazine Gap Road. The roof of Grosvenor House can be seen in the direction of Flagstaff House.
