Tragic Car Crash on Garden Road.
On the morning of Thursday 18 October 1951, Hong Kong residents, many of whom were friends of the deceased, awoke to the shocking, centre front page, bold headlines announcing that: “Mr V.E. Ferrier Killed In Tragic Car Accident. Crashes Into Garden Road Wall. In a tragic motor smash in Garden Road in the early hours of this morning, one of Hongkong’s best known residents, Mr Vivian E. Ferrier, a director of U. Spalinger and Co., and last year’s President of the Hongkong Automobile Association, crashed into a wall opposite the Helena May Institute and was killed.” China Mail, page one, October 18, 1951.
