This iconic wartime image of socially popular Hong Kong couple, Vivian and Olga Ferrier, dressed in WW2 British volunteer military uniforms, was sent to me some 25 years ago by their son Michael. Perhaps a photocopy of a page from a family photograph album; this June 1941 image, with its subjects set against a white screen, has the appearance, to me, of being a publicity shot designed to perhaps encourage other Hong Kong expatriate couples to volunteer for military service in increasingly threatening times.
