Right in the middle is the tram way on Leighton Road from Causeway Bay to Happy Valley. The building on the right is Leighton Centre which still exists today as at 20th October 2025. The signboard in light blue on the left belonged to the (Pine & Bamboo) Peking Restaurant whereas the signboard in green belonged to Indonesian Restaurant.

Comments

First, for the signboard with a light blue background, the characters spread into two lines and the characters are read from right to left as in the traditional way.

The upper line refers to the name of the restaurant, as transliterated below:

松 = Pine

竹 = Bamboo

樓 = House

The lower line refers to the type of cuisine being served, as transliterated below:

京 = capital (of a country) which refers to Pekingese style

菜 = vegetables/cuisines

For the signboard with a green background, the upper line (also from right to left)
