My parents Clifton and Mabel (Redwood) Large were sent to Baginton Fields Hostel near Coventry upon arriving back in England after Stanley. Also dad’s parents were with them, Frances and Milford Large.
I found this photo of the dining hall. On the back of the photo is a rubber stamp that says The Birmingham Gazette Ltd.
I've marked them as follows:
- #1 is Frances Large
- #2 is my Dad Cliff Large
- #3 is my Mum Mabel Large and
- #4 is Milford Large.
After Dad and Mum returned to Hong Kong, the grandparents remained there for a while but Milford died, actually 10 days before I was born in HK so he is buried in Coventry. Frances then returned to HK.
