Behind the mat sheds on the site of Sam Ching, Calder House could be seen. In the early stage of the construction of Sam Ching (before or foundation works have just begun), Calder House could be seen without scaffolding in other photos.

At the very center of the photo is Union Church (3rd generation) [1891-c.1944]. The (unfinished) road should be MacDonnell Road, the buildings under construction are between this road and Kennedy Road. They could be Calder House and Sam Ching (both were finished c.1895). Further down is St. Joseph's Church (2nd generation) [1876-1967].
The date should be between 1891 and 1895.
