I originally thought the Rope Factory would be the one in Ma Tau Kok near Kai Tak but the premises had already been leased to the Military Authorities in 1927.
The venue of the above performance was the Rope Factory in Sham Shui Po (actual location not known), the "temporary home" of the 1st Battalion, the Cameronians. Events in China in 1927 resulted in a great influx of troops either being stationed or in transit in Hong Kong. The Y.M.C.A. undertook to entertain the troops.
