My father Ronald Griggs was the officer in charge at Shatin Police Station from 1946 until 1948. Here he is in a group photo with the other officers and staff with whom he worked alongside; sitting next to my mother Joan and my older brother Edwin, who would have been about 18 months old at the time. My parents were soon to depart to go on leave to the UK, their first trip back after my father's time in Stanley camp during the war.
I think this was a happy time for them, although my mother must have felt quite isolated as Shatin was so rural then and she didn't drive.
I like that everyone is looking cheerful in this picture!
