The photo is believed to have been taken in the early 60s judging by the ages of my father and my aunts and uncles. My grandparents and my great-grandmother were also in the picture. I was told they were living in the squatter area near Cornwall Street, Kowloon Tong, the present site of the hall of residence, City University Hong Kong. I am not sure if the picture was taken at their home.

Beacon Hill tunnel
Looks like the southern Beacon Hill tunnel entrance in the background. Cornwall Street was eventually built above where the group are standing, so not far from where they lived.
Edit: having compared this image to the southern portal, I don't think it is a match. Sorry about that.
