A.L. Anderson was one of the first officers to receive the Shanghai Municipal Police (Specials) Long Service Medal. His medal was / and still is unique in that the reverse was engraved with FOR DISTINGUISHED AND VALUABLE SERVICES instead of the usual FOR LONG SERVICE.
