Walla walla overtaken by M.V. Flying Albatross Nov. 1981

The low freeboard of the walla walla is evident as it sails through the choppy, congested waters of the harbour.

The FLYING ALBATROSS was a hydrofoil operated by the Hongkong Macao Hydrofoil Co. Built in 1964 by Cantiere Navale Rodriques of Messina Italy.

Comments

They might have been high-tech and glamorous when they were built, but by the time I took the hydrofoil to Macau in the early 80s, the boats were definitely shabby. Still, a pretty cool way to travel.
