In honour of the Year of the Dragon here is another view of the inkwell that belonged to my grandfather, Charles Warren. It probably dates from the 1910s or earlier. There was a rose (representing England) on two faces of the inkwell and a dragon on the other two sides. It was one of the few items salvaged from the auction of Charles Warren's house, The Towers in 1924. My uncle, Leslie Warren had to bid for anything that he wanted. My father had asked his brother to get him something, but always maintained that he had not done so. It's therefore probable that his father left him the inkwell in his will, but the section detailing the individual legacies has not survived.
