Compared to the previous photos (taken in 2016), this house now looks abandoned, with missing window panes.

Hi Liz - this is a very typical HK method of speeding up the decay of a building so the owner/developer can justify knocking it down. Open the windows and let in the elements. What a shame. As you know I pass here frequently and up until today had just assumed it was still occupied. Another one about to bite the dust and no doubt be replaced by something rather more tasteless.

P.S welcome back

Thanks Phil, that hadn't occurred to me, but you're probably right. Sad to see such a difference in just a few years. It would be a real shame to lose one of the few remaining 'original' houses.

Apart from that, it's good to be back! (briefly)

It's the same in Australia.  Property owners intent on creating a reason to demolish heritage buildings either by climbing on the roof themselves, or by paying someone to climb on the roof after dark so that the neighbours don't see someone removing a few roof tiles. Breaking windows as well. All to deliberately let the elements make the building decay. For some owners/developers, heritage is meaningless.  Their motto is, out with the old, in with the new.
