It would take a lot of agility and balance by those on the Sampans to maneuver long bamboo poles with a basket on the end while bobbing about on the sea as the ship reverses out from the Ocean Terminal.
Usually there would be at least six sampans vying for attention.
Not a sight seen these days especially when modern cruise ship’s passenger decks are so high above the water.
