I recall that this image may have been taken from the annual HYF ferry excursion sailing through Aberdeen at Chinese New Year to view the mass of assembled fishing boats.

So, this image should be along the coast in the Pokfulam area. Can anyone confirm?

I assume the properties have been redeveloped by now.

I am fairly certain that the two blocks of apartments still exist on Mt Davis Road. The modern Blarney Stone on the Victoria Road would be built shortly after this photograph was taken (?)  below the right hand block.  I cannot see any sign of its distinctive shape or colour on this photograph but it is quite prominent on Google Earth 3D view.  I'll try to upload that image.  Best wishes,  Andrew

Hi There,

I captured the screen from Google Earth here.  Phase I of Villa Cecil and Mr Chao's home complex still stand today.  The orientation and the height of the capture is not quite the same as the original photo, BTW.  I will try to take a photo next time when I am hon a Lamma Island Ferry.

In the main photo, the Wah Kwong Shipping Company's flag can be seen flying at bottom right. Managed by the Chao family, the Company is today called Wah Kwong Maritime Transport Holdings Ltd. In the 1980s, I recall the vast property had its own private helicopter landing site.
