This is a very nice side view of the HKU main building (Lok Yeo Hall) taken from the Bonham Road entrance. However, it appears that the photo is likely to have been taken after 1973 instead of in 1938. The driveway in the lower half of the photo was constructed between 1959 and 1960. I still remember the construction work when I walked home from Saint Stephen’s Church School just across the street. Before that, the only access to the HKU main building by car was through the main entrance on PokFuLam Road near the filter bed pumping station. Also, see the overpass on the right side of the photo. This was added so that one can drive all the way to the Knowles Architecture building which was erected in 72-73.
