Getting out to the arrival hall, one had to go down a sloping gangway. Those people there were friends and relatives waiting for the arriving passengers.
I arrived back from boarding School twice a year from 1967-74. Looked down the gangway and saw my mum and dad. It is only now that they have gone this photo brings back such feelings of delight and wishing I could do it all again. This time with proper greetings instead of a shrug of the shoulders when my mum wanted to hug me so much.
In late 1970s and early 1980s Kai Tak airport underwent a series of modifications and expansions to deal with the ever increasing number of passengers. This is a picture of the new arrival hall captured from a movie.
