Sendai Camp Photo
As I mentioned in previous posts, my uncle, Reggie Reed, was incorrectly identified as the person in the Sendai Camp photo posted above and elsewhere. He was a prisoner of war at Shamshuipo Camp along with his brother Robert, as confirmed to me by Tony Banham, with no record of his being at the Sendai Camp. Information posted by Eurasian_David on the Japanese list of Allied POWs showed that Reggie's name was not included among the other Reeds imprisoned at Sendai Camp. Reggie's name was also not included in the list of ex-POWs who returned to Hong Kong from Sendai Camp as per ashchoi, along with her feedback and thoughts on the inconsistencies. The person in the Sendai Camp photo bears no resemblance to Reggie. In all the photos I have seen of him before and after the war, Reggie never wore glasses either.
I appreciated seeing the list of the POWs captured and released that leitao66 posted that confirms the actual date when Reggie was captured and released, December 25, 1941 and September 2, 1945 respectively. This clears up some of the related discrepancies.
I do want to express my thanks to the above individuals who provided information confirming the dates and the camp where Reggie was held. I also want to thank ashchoi for finding and posting pertinent information of Reggie's participation in the Victory Parade in London, as well as information about Francis Reed's widow Vera de Carvalho after the war.
Sendai photo
I will remove Reggie's name from any Sendai Photos in which he was previously misidentified.
