Does anyone know from where this photo was taken? Now undoubtedly all built up. Kowloon Tong?

Hi There,

Those rock features are most likely gone or hidden.  It would be very diffiult to tell the exact location, but I tend to believe it may be somewhere along present day Tze Wan Shan\Diamond Hill area, quite high up the slopes.

Given the gap between Lion Rock and Beacon Hill, you can use the little peak in the centre of the gap to get a fairly good idea of how far down they were - perhaps closer to today's Tsz Wan Shan Catholic primary school/Po Kong? Or perhaps further to the east close to the DH cemetery? I guess they could be even further east - above today's Fung Shing Street nr Hillop Gardens.

I've been thinking about this further and think my last guess is the closest. The (now removed) hillock in the centre background was the one located where Po Kong Road Park/Catholic school stands - my first guess, so it's safe to rule it out. This would put the camera closer to Fung Shing Street area. Looking at aerial images from 1949 and early 60s there were large rocks (and some significant graves) on the hillside here above the Fu Shan Estate and Fung Shing Road. So I think they were probably somewhere between Fung Shing Street and Jats Incline, slightly west of today's Fu Shan Estate.
