War Department Marker Stone #3, Wong Nai Chung Gap

My photo is marked "Apr 98, WNC Gap". Unfortunately I was not more specific than that, and as I covered a lot of ground in that area, it could be anywhere.

If anyone recognises it, please could you leave a comment below with its location?

Hi Rob, On the hkmaps.hk site I found a “M.S.3” on Wong Nai Chung Gap Road. It’s on the 1913.1 Reference Map. I’m guessing that today (if it still exists) it is opposite the French International School gates and down the road 10-20 metres. Tried to find it on Google street view back to 2009 with no luck. A visit is in order!

I think Rob's image is a War Dept marker stone rather than a milestone, so I'm not sure it is the same one marked on the 1913 map?

I think you are right philk - I was possibly led astray by the 1913.1 map inscription  “War Office Feb 1913”. Earlier maps show the marker as “M.S.3 from Victoria”; more likely a City Boundary stone.
