Hongkong Land acquired the P&O Building in 1976 and in Septmebr 1978 an agreement was reached to sell the building at a substantial profit. Adjacent to the Old General Post Office on the corner of Pedder Street and Des Voeux Road where Worldwide House is currently situated, the GPO building was completed in 1911 and demolished in 1976.
