This is another mystery photograph. Three uniformed people on an artillery gun. Has anybody any thoughts. Is it Hong Kong and possible time period?
I have established two time periods for my photographs 1932 - 1936 and 1949 -1950. These are recorded as the 193s
Date picture taken
1934

Re: Photo
The hills in the background are faint. May be taken from Stonecutters Island. A view of the possible background on the right here . Other contributors may be able to identify the gun.
Almost certainly right
The hill on the matches Beacon Hill, the ridge on the left Eagle's Nest and the angle corresponds to Stonecutters Island looking out over modern Cheung Sha Wan.
The gun is either an RML-64 pounder or an RML 9 inch (rifled, muzzle loading), which makes it very much pre-first world war.
I think that this is one of the RML 9 inch guns at Stonecutters East Battery. The carriage and the porting near the muzzle looks more similar to this RML 9" gun than this RML 64 pounder.
If it is the 64-pounder then it's more likely to be the Stonecutters South Shore Battery, although I don't believe the hills are visible from that location.
If it is Stonecutters East and the data on the page accurate, then this photo is between 1881 and 1894, which is quite exciting.

Many thanks for the reply and observations, all a great help.

Many thanks for the reply and comments. It shows what just a pale outline can give a clue to a photograph
