Thanks David - interesting to read the article.  My photo (the coloured one) is one of many slides which I have from my father.  They were deteriorating so I have them on a disc and now need to edit and repair!  I was at boarding school in October 1958 but my father took the photo as his office was opposite Statue Square (BGEC).

Thanks Alison for sharing the colour family slides. Although on closer inspection I think your particular photo does not exactly match the 1st October 1958 China Mail clip suggesting your photo was from another year.
