These were I think HK-designed toys based on Cabbage Patch dolls, these were reflecting the sentiment of the times after the signing of the Joint Declaration between the UK and China in 1984
LOL. The familiar chimes of the Star Ferry Clock Tower at Edinburgh Place, Central can be heard towards the end of the Reuters video, meaning the tourist shop selling the dolls was located within the Star Ferry pier complex. I remember there were shops that catered to the tourist agenda, including nearby rickshaw rides pulled by geriatrics. Wow, it's been a long time since I last heard it.
