At Christmas each Watch had a dinner in ne of the restaurants down town. The 'A' Watch dinner was held on 28 December at the Savoy Restaurant on Queen's Road in Central. As far as I can remember this was quite a prestigious eating place. Gubbins was 'Chalkie' White who was our Watch sergeant. He was a good cartoonist contributing regularly to the Little Sai Wan magazine 'Ariel'. I believe that a copy of this has appeared elsewhere on Gwulo.

The Savoy
The Savoy was next to the Queen's Theatre as seen here from 1955.
Thanks Moddsey. I hadn't
Thanks Moddsey. I hadn't known until now that the Savoy must have been virtually next door to Jimmy's Kitchen. In 1957/8, I rarely ate at expensive places but might have eaten in Jimmy's Kitchen on one occasion.
