Can someone please help me to identify where the attached photos have been taken. It looks like this was underneath Battery Path in Central. But I'm not quite sure. How about the opening in the wall ? For what purpose was that entrance ?

Yes, the photo was underneath Battery Path. This was an air raid shelter. There was another air raid shelter to the west. You can look up the Harrison Forman photos in the 1940s gallery.
