The liner berthed at the Kowloon Wharves is probably one of the four R class liners built for P&O (Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Co.) in 1925.
Comparing the photo with the 2 pictures from the book “P&O – A Fleet History” the ship in question is likely to be the RANCHI. The pair of rectangular windows directly below the bridge wings is a feature only seen in pictures of the RANCHI. After WW 2 the liner had a single funnel.
RANCHI – built 1925 Hawthorn Leslie & Co. Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
