Here's another scene of neat local cultivation that caught the attention of Lt-Cdr William Fell and that he might have wanted to show his father as an example of land that, from the look of the hillside, would have taken hard work to clear. His own ancestors had undertaken similar clearing exercises in New Zealand. The large boulders seem to line sunken pathways, similar to sheep runs on Dartmoor, where he also rented a small cottage when on leave with his English wife and children. Perhaps someone has an idea of what their Hong Kong function was.
