The same photo appeared in the HK Telegraph on 20 November 1948. The caption says "The HK Light Orchestra, conducted by William Apps delighted a large audience at the China Fleet Club last week. One of the soloist was Victor Orloff, violinist."
However, the Earl Haig Fund Concert was held at the China Fleet Club on 19 November. As the Light Orchestra had also played at the China Fleet Club on 4 November, the photo on the postcard is probably from this date.
I have a photo of the HK Light Orchestra at the Gripps from another program which my father kept. Thought you might find it interesting to see! However I don't know if it's William Apps who's standing in the middle. I also squinted to see if I could see Victor there but had no luck
No other information available but the HK Light Orchestra's Ballet Concert was held at the Gripps as indicated. Bank Holiday on 10 October, racing at Happy Valley. Nice photo to keep given the unfolding events of the period. Cheers!
