I have checked this photograph against the Google Earth Street view images and there is more or less a perfect match, so the earlier photograph of the reservoir in Malcolm's gallery was taken after this one. Malcolm would have walked up the Cape Collinson road and after a short stretch on the Shek O road along the Tai Tam road as I did a few years later.
