Shaukiwan from Lyemun camp.

I thought that somewhere I had seen a photograph of a Japanese General sitting on this bank in 1941/2, but the only one that I can now find is a similar one taken at Repulse Bay.  The image shows Shaukiwan when it was still very much a fishing community.  (Andrew S)

Thank you Jason.  For a short time in the early 1950s, members of the 367 Signals Unit had their living quarters at the Lyemun camp (still basically an Army camp and, I believe, mainly occupied by the Gurkhas).  That Frank photographed the same view that the Japanese soldier had admired some ten or more years previously indicates what a dramatic spectacle the Shaukiwan fishing fleet and harbour presented.
