The photo was taken in the previous location, which was somewhere around the present day World Trade Centre site. That was before the new reclaimation. Whenever the Noon gun was fired, the bang terrorized kids and babies around the area. The site was surrounded by taller buiding around and the bang got amplified. I grew up in 51 Paterson Street (just next door) and always jumped when it came. That also mean I may have heard the one fired by Mr Coward back then without knowing it.
Slightly better when the gun was moved to the new water front, but it is still loud. Try to stand at the corner of Kingston Street before noon and wait for it.

Hi There,
