The Dairy Farm near Pokfulam was an entirely closed area except for employees vaccinated against tuberculosis. As a further precaution against infection, cows were kept away from the public in byres or yards with byres and fed grass cut by hand from the surrounding fields. Hong Kong 1966 states, 'milk production was 13.5 million pounds of milk, valued at $1.20 a pound'.
