I believe the photographer was standing Ap Lei Chau, likely towards the end of Ap Lei Chau Main Street, on a building. The roll of low rise near identical houses as seen is likely what they call Sap Ng Kan (十五間) (or part of it). That would be around the present day location of the Aberdeen Harbour Mansion, Yip Yee Mansion and a few more such low rises along Aberdeen Main Road.
