Sheung Wan or Central?  Somebody will probably be able to identify this location from the characters on the pillars.  That will give a good clue as to the whereabouts of the other photographs taken on the same occasion.

Thank you simtang.  Is the pin at the junction of Des Voeux Road and Cleverly Street on the map accurate enough for this photograph.  If not, perhaps you would add one in the correct place.  Andrew S

Andrew:

According 1973 年香港年鑑(第二十六回), the neighbor on the right side of East Asia Barber was a JEWELRY in 1973. So it is difficult to know what era the Uwants commenter referred to.

Anyway this 1974 picture would indicate the location of your photo

In the following picture, I have marked the location of East Asia Barber in red circles, the Jewelry on its right side had an address 284 Des voeux C according to the 1973 directory. So the barber should be the second shop from the Cleverly-Des Voeux C junction on the south side of Des Voeux road C.

Apparently all the shops had closed down in your 1981  photo. There was a sign "拆樓" or "to be demolished" back there.

That site became Hing Yip Commercial Centre in 1984

In 1981, probably the shops were different from 1973. The Uwants commenter may well be correct in saying the shop on the left was a lamp shop and shop on the right side of barber a ginseng shop in 1981. Looking more carefully at your picture, there seems to be a red Chinese character for lamp "燈" on the column on the right edge of photo. And a red Chinese character for Yuen 源 on the column on the left. Except the commenter had left and right reversed :)

Thank you simtang. As you have identified the location of the shop houses as being on the South East corner of the Cleverly / Des Voeux Road junction, I think that the original pin on the map is sufficient to draw people to the location of my 1981 photograph as being where the Hing Yip Commercial centre was soon to be built in1984.  Best wishes,  Andrew
