The FPS6 and FPS8 were sent by sea to Hong Kong and then unloaded on to barges or lighters and transported to the RAF Marine craft jetties at Kai Tak. They were then unloaded and laid out on the grass beside the runway. Once sorted out they were taken up to Tai Mo Shan by two short wheel based tipper lorries. The two towers came in kit form, rather like giant Meccano sets. Each kit included a comprehensive instruction manual and a huge toolbox with all the tools needed to assemble them. Every part had an identity plate attached (see above). The kits contained everything needed , from bags of nuts and bolts to brackets and rolls of waterproofing materials to seal the roof panels.
