I was 8 yrs old at the time of this crash and can recall being in the playground of Kowloon junior school with my twin brother amongst others when we all witnessed this tragic event.
It's amazing that having read this article now, after 46 years, one's recolletion of the event is almost perfect.
and I wasn't standing too far away from you at the time. One of the things that stands out in my memory of days at KJS (Mrs Versloot, Mrs Bland et al).
I am researching the Hawker hunter crash which you both witnessed in 1962 . The Pilot who died tragically in the accident was Flt lt David Crichton . He was my wifes uncle and recently his sister my wifes Aunt re told the sad story . She is well and living in Australia . We live in the UK . It shows the power of the internet that sucha connection is possible after so many years . it seems David had a successfull crash landing only a few days before which Im not sure his sister realises . she will be very surprised when I tell her .
David Crichton was buried in the colonial cemetry . None of his family were able to be at the service as only fathers were flown out to attend services and he had died when David was young. which is all very sad , but they have visited his grave since .
if you have any other information or recollections please let me know
